July 27, 2010
Members of the Oakdale Rotary Club,
I'm honored that you selected me as your 2010 - 2011 Rotary Club President. I'm certain we'll have a fun
and productive year.
I've been a Rotarian since
1979 and have had the fortune to be a member of several clubs as my professional career took me to different locations in
Northern California; Oakdale has been the highlight of my membership.
As we enter the New Year under Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith's leadership, we embrace his motto
“Building Communities, Bridging Continents and we'll get to work addressing local and international initiative such
as literacy and Ending Polio Now.”
My focus will
be on launching a literacy program in Oakdale in collaboration with the Oakdale Unified School District and the Oakdale Education
Foundation to create the foundation which I hope will continue between our organizations for decades to come.
We will not lose focus on the issues of interest to our club
in the past however; as members we will continue to promote the stellar reputation our club has enjoyed through service.
Yours in Rotary,
John Friel, President
