District Governor Don Murphy is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Salida and has been involved in district operations
almost since joining Rotary. Starting as District Insurance Chairman for 5 years and adding in Webmaster for 6 years, Don
and his wife Donna served as co-chairmen of the 2007 District Conference. They are both Rotarians and that’s an active
Rotary household where Donna has served as editor of the Rotary Times for 6 years and is Immediate Past President of the Rotary
Club of Salida and AG for Area 7.
Both have been involved on the committees for nearly every district event since joining Rotary, both
served as RYLA counselors one year, and have served as hosts for Group Study Exchange, friendship exchange and youth exchange.
Both have participated for several years with the Far West PETS Committee that puts on the annual president-elect training
seminar for 9 Rotary Districts, and Don will serve as the General Chairman of Far West PETS in 2013.
Recently
retired, Don had a busy career as a regional and national corporate officer specializing in Finance and Information Systems
in the insurance industry, and operated a one man consulting firm for several years. Donna is a retired Environmental Compliance
Specialist and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager. The Murphys met in college and have been married since 1967. Their sons
Daniel and David live in the Central Valley with their families and they have one granddaughter.
